Abstract

DNA polymerases I and II have been purified from wild-type Escherichia coli and from two mutants of E. coli. Polymerase II is present in wild-type cells in an amount identical to that present in E. coli polAl. In two DNAts mutants, CR43-26 and CR266-26, both of the "fast stop" variety, neither polymerase activity is temperature sensitive in vitro.
