Abstract
The hypothesis that neuronal aging may involve fundamental changes in the nerve membrane lipid matrix has a great deal of theoretical appeal. However, the evidence demonstrating substantive changes has not been forthcoming. Furthermore any hypotheses dealing with nerve membrane lipids will need to incorporate into its design the unique features of the membrane such as the high concentration of glycolipids.
