Abstract
Analytical expressions are derived for the Levitt-Suter-Emst composite quadrupolar echo sequences, allowing facile lineshape calculations for comparison with experiment. Large phase distortions in the lineshape obtained with the first-order sequence are significantly reduced with the second-order sequence. For 90° pulse lengths greater than ∼5μs, both sequences produce large phase errors for typical 2H quadrupolar coupling strengths in solids.
