The frequent occurrence of spontaneous regression of retinoblastoma is a striking characteristic of this tumor. The induction of regression of tumors by various therapeutic means has increasingly become the goal in the management of retinoblastoma patients as a desirable alternative to enucleation. The basic mechanisms involved in spontaneous or induced regression of retinoblastoma have important implications in regard to the field of cancer biology.
