Abstract
The incorporation of myo‐(2‐3H)inositol into phosphatidylinositol pre‐sent in lymphocytes from multiple sclerosis (MS) patients and control patients was assayed. The lymphocytes were in vitro prior to an assay stimulated with phytohemagglutinin (PHA), basic protein (BP) and measles antigen (MA). MS patients revealed lower incorporation of myo‐(2‐3H)inositol into the monophosphatidylinositol fraction than controls when stimulated with PHA (P < 0.025) and MA (P < 0.005). Three of the MS patients studied appeared to have a response to BP which was higher than the mean value plus the SD value of the MS group.
