Abstract

When organized in 1966, the Cardiovascular Committee of the American College of Surgeons was charged by the Board of Regents, as one of its functions, “to encourage and assist properly coordinated, staffed and equipped cardiovascular teams or groups at the local level by the establishment of standards for the qualification of team members, as well as standards for determining the adequacy of space and equipment to support the program.” Guidelines for such standards, as developed by the subcommittee and approved by the Regents in June, 1972, follow.
