Abstract
This chapter discussed immune thrombocytopenia. Diagnosis is discussed as well as acute therapy. Patients who fail initial therapy are offered three choices of therapy–splenectomy, thrombopoietin agonists, and rituximab. Evan’s syndrome and ITP in pregnancy are also discussed. Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is a common condition affecting about 1:20,000. This review will go over the presentation of ITP, the diagnosis, and then review treatment options. Finally ITP in specific clinical situations will be reviewed.
