note = "Funding Information: At present, the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation and the Veterans Administration (VA) generously support IPE activities. In addition to their grants program, Macy develops and/or collaboratively sponsors forums for progressive dialogue on key topics related to health-professions education and practice. Forum reports, 10 as well as summaries of their grantees' work, can be found at the Foundation website. Recently the Foundation brought together representatives from their funded programs for a 2 day summit designed for cross-sharing of ideas and facilitating high-level dialogue between education and practice leaders about common interests in IPE. Last year the Foundation created a Macy Faculty Scholars Program to support innovative faculty development in health-professions education, including IPE. Three physician scholars and 2 nurse scholars were funded in the first round, with the second-round selection in process. Support from the VA underwrites the Veterans Administration Centers of Excellence in Primary Care Education . To help meet a national need for nurse-physician training models in collaborative primary care practice, the VA has funded 5 VA medical centers to work collaboratively with health-professions educational institutions in demonstrating innovative IPE models for training medical students and residents with undergraduate nursing students and advanced-practice nursing students, sometimes including trainees from other health professions. The program is linked to the VA Patient-Aligned Care Team program. ",
