Abstract

An overview is given on the advantages and disadvantages of optoacoustic imaging. Mathematics of optoacoustics for describing of thermoelastic expansion pressure related to velocity potential velocity and potential related to energy deposition is discussed. Examples of laser-induced acoustic pressure wave generation by irregularly shaped absorbing objects are also given.
