Abstract
In an effort to better understand the sources and transport of effluents, a combined modeling and field measurement program has been initiated. The modeling uses a pair of 2-D (depth-averaged) finite element models (one to compute circulation and one to compute transport) plus a number of supporting programs to facilitate grid generation, model interfacing, and plotting. Field measurements are made of a suite of volatile halocarbons discharged with the sewage effluent from the Deer and Nut Is. treatments plants and are used for model calibration. This paper reports on early results in a continuing study.
