Abstract

High molecular weight allergens that may cause occupational asthma (GA) are reviewed in this article under three sections. The first outlines asthma due to animal proteins, including those of mammals, birds, insects, crustaceans, and mollusks. The second section explains plant proteins capable of inducing GA, such as wheat, rye, and soy flour, coffee, tea, vegetable gums, cotton dust, and other plant components. The third portion covers asthma due to foods and enzymes, such as Bacillus subtilis.
