Abstract

The authors summarize various outcome measures that may be used to monitor therapeutic efficacy of treatment strategies for patients with retinal diseases. The measures selected may depend on the severity of visual loss and whether diffuse or localized retinal function is to be monitored. The patient's age and ability to maintain fixation will also influence the choice of measures.
