Abstract
The new color flow mapping Doppler technologies provide a dynamic method for studying the spatial distribution of blood flow velocities in the heart, unlike any noninvasive or invasive technique previously available. The advent of these new instruments represents a substantial opportunity for advancing the applications of Doppler echocardiography and for furthering our understanding of the patterns of blood flow in the circulatory system in health and disease.
