Abstract

High grade astrocytomas are difficult to treat surgically due to the diffuse nature of these lesions. Systemic chemotherapy has poor results due to limited penetration into the tumor and systemic toxicity. Regional therapy of high grade astrocytomas represents a promising new approach to these lesions. This article reviews recent experience with intraarterial chemotherapy in the treatment of these lesions.
