Retroperitoneal endometriosis following dilatation and suction curettage

Abstract

Uterine hemorrhage, perforation, and cervical injury are the major immediate complications of abortion; delayed complications have been less well reported (1). The following case shows that retroperitoneal endometriosis can result from unrecognized uterine perforation during a dilatation and suction curettage (D&S) abortion operation.
