Abstract

Compound topological graphs have been presented which allow the systematic analysis of the stereochemical aspects of any substitution or stereoisomerization reaction of an octahedral six-coordinate compound which proceeds via a five-coordinate intermediate capable of rearranging according to the Berry pseudorotation mechanism. Examples are given of a substitution reaction of a complex with monodentate ligands and intramolecular isomerization reactions of tris bidentate chelates.
