Abstract
This paper demonstrates that the daily biphasic surges of prolactin secretion initiated by mating do not continue throughout pregnancy, and that the diurnal surge is terminated 2 days before the nocturnal surge. The disappearance of the surges may be related to the appearance of a placental lactogenic hormone.
