Abstract

3-Channel Lissajous' trajectories (3-CLT) were recorded in the auditory brain-stem response (ABR) from 3 orthogonally placed electrode pairs in 10 anesthetized adult cats. Planar analysis, an off-line semi-automated computerized procedure, defined planar-segment boundaries, durations, apex latencies, and sight vector orientations relative to the analysis axes. Planar analysis indicated that sets of sequential data points along the 3-CLT formed 12 distinct planes in 3-dimensional voltage-space. The generation of planar segments in voltage-space suggests some underlying factor such as neural synchrony. 3-Channel data analyzed in this way provide information on brain-stem activity that is unavailable from any single-channel ABR recording.
