Abstract
The clinical features of herpes zoster of the geniculate ganglion are reviewed and related to the functional anatomy of the seventh cranial nerve. An illustrative case highlights many of the features of the syndrome that were first described by Ramsay Hunt. The significance of facial palsy is discussed in the light of its distribution.
