Aktuelle aspekte der postoperativen schmerztherapie bei kindern

Over the last years, the concept of "balanced analgesia" has been recognized as an important clinical approach for the treatment of postoperative pain in children. The combination of, for example, two analgesics with different mechanisms of action or the combination of analgesics and regional anesthesia improve analgesic quality and, at the same time, reduce the potential for adverse side effects. Along with the pharmacological strategies psychosomatic aspects of pain and coping should be a constitutive element of the therapeutic concept. To our opinion, a multimodal pain therapy allows sufficient and safe analgesia in infants and children of all ages.
