Abstract
Central airway obstruction from malignant disease is a serious presentation of intrathoracic malignances. Symptoms may be subtle, mimic other pulmonary diseases, or be catastrophic. Management of acute airway obstruction begins with stabilization and resuscitation. Therapeutic bronchoscopy can rapidly alleviate malignant central airway obstruction, and a variety of tools can be used creatively and in combination to recanalize the airway.
