Abstract

Symptomatic hemorrhoids are one of the oldest described afflictions of humans. Treatment has evolved over time, but hemorrhoidectomy remains an option recommended to many patients. Among the advances in the treatment of hemorrhoids in recent years, one of the most significant has been the shift from the inpatient to the outpatient setting. This chapter outlines the principles of hemorrhoidectomy in the ambulatory setting.
