Abstract
Cannabis has become widely accepted by patients and politicians alike; however, physicians have been left in the dark as how to manage patients who prefer cannabis-based treatments for their pain regimen. It is critical that we provide a starting point and lay the groundwork for physicians and their patients by way of patient-centered algorithms to help guide clinical decision-making when recommending cannabis as a substitute for opiates. We hope this algorithm serves as but one guide, as this model will be fluid for years to come and will require iterations as more research is performed on cannabis and pain.
