Abstract
A novel, cascadable optical inverter is demonstrated up to 2.5Gbit/s using a commerically available 1550nm VCSEL. Experimental results show cascadable operation based on positive noise margin transfer characteristics and extinction ratio (ER) regeneration. Errorless performance is measured with sensitivity penalties of 0 and 1.4dB and output ER exceeding 6dB at 1 and 2.5Gbit/s, respectively.
