Abstract
Contrary to common belief, several randomized trials of combined chemotherapy with regional treatment have demonstrated significant benefit for head and neck cancer patients. This article compares prior approaches with various sequences of chemotherapy and regional treatment, and it concludes that information now exists for the formulation of well-designed, prospective randomized clinical trials comparing different schemes of concomitant chemotherapy with standard regional treatment regimens.
