Electromyography

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Electrodiagnostic studies are a routine component of the workup of myopathy and are fundamentally an extension of the physical examination. The examiner must be aware of factors that may influence the findings of a study. An understanding of neuromuscular anatomy and physiology, as well as the ability to recognize relevant patterns during the clinical evaluation, will guide the diagnostic evaluation. Specialized techniques may increase the diagnostic accuracy of these tests for the inflammatory myopathies.
