Abstract
Overall, well-differentiated thyroid cancer has a good prognosis, and mortality has changed minimally over the past several decades. The development of clinical guidelines is a result of an increasing emphasis on evidence-based medicine. The most recent American Thyroid Association guideline for patients with thyroid nodules was published in 2015. New studies in thyroidology are constantly being published, placing our evidence-based approach to thyroid disease in continuous refinement. Thus, it is critical for thyroid surgeons to be up-to-date to provide their patients with the highest level of care.
