Facial reanimation with microneurovascular free flaps

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

There are several options available for the rehabilitation of facial paralysis, which is a devastating problem that can radically alter the quality of life for most patients. Whether the surgeon uses a simple procedure such as an adynamic sling or a complex procedure such as a microneurovascular free flap depends on a systematic evaluation of the patient. Facial flaps for dynamic facial reanimation with gracilis free tissue transfer can provide outstanding functional and cosmetic results. This article describes the author's surgical technique and results of the gracilis flap.
