Abstract

In summary, RF ablation may be salvation in certain subset of children with arrhythmias. Whether catheter ablation is appropriate for a particular patient should be decided on an individual basis. In general, catheter ablation for arrhythmias such as AVRT and AVNRT has a high success rate and low complication rate. Arrhythmias such as EAT, intraatrial reentry tachycardia, and VT are amenable to RF ablation, but this therapy should be considered only after pharmacologic options have been exhausted. However, with constantly evolving technological advancements and understanding of arrhythmias, catheter ablation may become first-line therapy in patients in whom the risk-benefit ratio currently does not favor catheter ablation.
