Abstract
Of 110 patients with senile disciform degeneration of the macula, 49 patients with 62 involved eyes were followed for an average duration of 22 mth. Follow up of the serous disciform group revealed gradual deterioration both morphologically and functionally as opposed to the hemorrhagic disciforms which progressed rapidly. The eyes with disciform scars remained unchanged morphologically and functionally. Thirteen (36%) of the 36 fellow eyes of unilateral cases developed disciform lesions during the period of observation.
