Abstract

In infants with tetralogy having pulmonary arteries of adequate size, one stage total correction can be undertaken as soon as symptoms progress (the case presented is of a 6 mth old boy) and is to be preferred to the more usual two stage approach. Early total correction obviates many problems that emerge or worsen with growth and add to the operative difficulties encountered when definitive repair is deferred.
