Abstract

A thorough understanding of anatomy is essential to the mastery of gastrointestinal surgery. In this chapter, the anatomy is outlined in parallel to critical steps in major colorectal procedures. References to newer methods of imaging to guide the surgeon during these steps are also included. It is our hope that this chapter provides you with a greater appreciation of colorectal anatomy.
