Abstract

Mastocytosis is a heterogeneous condition in children. Most children will have cutaneous mastocytosis which is amenable to management by the dermatologist, while a small subset will have progressive and/or systemic mastocytosis necessitating a multispecialty approach. This chapter will review work-up, prognosis, and treatment options for children with cutaneous mastocytosis, with an emphasis on systemic therapies for those with more extensive disease. Treatment options for systemic mastocytosis will be briefly discussed, as rarely, progression from cutaneous to systemic mastocytosis may occur.
