Abstract
A 4-ns pulsed laser can cause significant accumulation of pressure within a 6-um objects that absorbs the laser light (speed of sound is 1.5 μm/ns). The magnitude of such pressure is about 4.8 bars per degree C temperature rise induced by the pulsed laser. This article report, on progress in applying photoacoustic imaging to the detection of blood vessels in tissues.
