Abstract

Surgical resection of parastomal recurrence after laryngectomy provides the best option for palliation or potential cure. Mediastinal tracheostomy has been the standard management for the shortened trachea, but this approach is fraught with complications and patient morbidity. Use of a tubed radial forearm free flap to elongate the shortened trachea potentially offers a better and less-morbid reconstruction for these patients.
