N2 - Pitfalls are plentiful in pediatric CRRT systems. Still, these continuous therapies add to the armamentarium of the pediatric nephrologist in taking care of children with renal failure. The key to success is obtaining adequate vascular access. Adequate blood flow makes solute and volume status more easily controlled and reduces clotting and overall labor intensity of the therapy. Perhaps, soon, newer small priming volume tubing systems will become available for commercial CVVH(D) devices, and the long-promised heparin bonded system will become a reality.
