Abstract

The optimum management strategies for painful neuromas and neuromas-in-continuity are still unknown. This area is potentially rewarding and exciting for basic research and clinical development. Neurosurgeons have the necessary basic and clinical neuroscience background to contribute significantly to this field, and are trained in the requisite microsurgical techniques. Only by careful and thoughtful approach to individual cases can we hope to make a future progress in these extraordinarily difficult cases.
